A quick(ish) dash over the River Plate took us from the capital of Argentina to the capital of Uruguay - Montevideo. It was a pleasant, laid back town, with little to attract the photographer but pleasant enough nonetheless.
This picture shows a statue of the country's greatest hero, José Artigas (he repelled the Spanish for a while), in Plaza Independencia, the city's main square. His mausoleum is downstairs, and the Palacio Estévez (former seat of government) is in the background.
